Project Scope
New Excavation or Rehabilitation of an Existing Pond
A new pond request starts with the proposed basin, intended use and the earthwork around banks, dams and spillways. An existing pond may instead need sediment removal, deepening, bank reshaping or repairs. Describe which condition you are addressing so excavation and rehabilitation are not priced as the same job.
Equipment access, water conditions, dewatering coordination and room for sediment or spoils affect the work sequence. Include any access-road restoration, erosion repair or material hauling in the request. Excavation scope alone does not establish water retention or replace project-specific design decisions.
Information for Pond Work
- Location, intended pond use and whether the request is new excavation or rehabilitation.
- Available dimensions, depth objectives and dam, bank or spillway details.
- Current water and sediment conditions, equipment access and material-placement space.
- Haul-off, dewatering coordination and access-road restoration to include.

Project Questions
Ponds and Lakes: Scope and Planning Questions
- Can you clean out or deepen an existing pond?
- Pond cleanouts, sediment and muck excavation, deepening and bank reshaping are available. Explain the existing condition, access and where removed material could be placed so the rehabilitation scope can be reviewed.
- Should dam and spillway repairs be included in the same request?
- Include them if they are part of the work you need. Dam repair, spillway repair and erosion repair are existing scopes, but each should be described separately from basin excavation so the proposal states the intended work.
- Land clearing — For vegetation removal at the pond site or access route.
- Excavation and grading — For surrounding earthwork and material relocation.
